The Games Off the Field: Marquee Events Locked In

The Marquee Events are locked in for the 20^th Australian Masters Games in Canberra, 18-25 October 2025.

This October in Canberra, Australian Masters Games participants can look forward to a thoughtfully curated line-up of entertainment and social events that celebrate achievement, connection and the unique spirit of the Games.

“The Australian Masters Games is about the people, the friendships, stories and moments shared off the field,” said Adam Drinkwell, General Manager of the Australian Masters Games. “We’ve put together an entertainment schedule that gives participants the chance to unwind, explore Canberra, and enjoy the social side of the Games and the masters community.”

The much-anticipated Marquee Events are back for another year! From a spectacular Opening Ceremony, exciting Mid-Week Function, to a relaxed Closing Ceremony, this year’s events provide the perfect backdrop to reconnect with teammates, meet new people, and reflect on the journey that brings everyone together.

Here are the Marquee Events you can look forward to during the week of the Games (with more social events to be added to the schedule):

Opening Ceremony

Saturday 18 October, 2025

National Museum of Australia, Acton

The Games will launch with a high-energy Opening Ceremony featuring The Fabulous Caprettos, Australia’s ultimate supergroup made up of legends Dave Gleeson, Russell Morris, Jack Jones, and Rai Thistlethwayte. This will be their only Canberra performance as part of their 2025 national tour, making it an unmissable night! Please note, there will be limited capacity, so register early to ensure you don’t miss out.

Mid-Week Function

Multiple venues, Braddon ACT

Take a well-earned break from the competition and enjoy a relaxed evening in the heart of Braddon. With multiple venues hosting athletes across the precinct, it’s a great opportunity to explore local hospitality and connect with others mid-way through the Games. There will be a range of AMG-only specials just for you!

Closing Ceremony

Saturday 25 October, 2025

Australian National Botanic Gardens, Acton

The week concludes with a relaxed Closing Ceremony set among the beautiful surrounds of the Botanic Gardens. It’s a chance to celebrate, reflect and farewell a memorable week in Canberra with new friends and lasting memories.

With more acts, activities and event details on the way, the social side of the Games is shaping up to be just as rewarding as the sport itself. Keep an eye out for updates as we continue to add more social events to the entertainment schedule!
