Track Cycling – Omnium Event Format
This year, the event will feature a Masters Omnium format, delivering a dynamic and exciting schedule for riders and spectators alike.
Each participant will compete across four track race disciplines:
- Scratch Race – a classic mass-start race over a set distance
- Elimination Race – the last rider across the line every second lap is withdrawn until a single winner remains
- Points Race – intermediate sprints every few laps with points awarded for top placings and laps gained
- Keirin – a fast-paced motor-paced race featuring a thrilling sprint finish
The combined results of these four races will determine the final Omnium placings within each Masters age grade and gender division.
Whether you’re a seasoned trackie or returning to the boards after a break, the AMG Track Omnium promises a day of competitive fun and camaraderie in one of Canberra’s most historic velodromes.

Additional Information
- The $60 sport fee includes entry into all 4 events. It is expected that participants will be entered into all events and cannot just pay for one event.
- Where a single age group does not have the minimum number of participants to conduct a race, the affected age group will be combined with the division below them. i.e. Male Masters 6 has only 3 entrants, Masters 6 will be combined with Male Masters 5 participants for that competition.
- The competition is open to all riders aged 30 and above, with age groups aligned to standard Masters categories (Masters 1: 30–34 through to Masters 9+: 70+). Male and Female divisions will be run separately, with age groups combined where minimum entry numbers are not met.
- Due to velodrome’s steep banking, only track bikes can be used. Track bikes and helmets will be checked by Commissaires to ensure they meet UCI requirments.
