A Milestone Moment: 50 Sports Currently Open for Registration
The 20th Australian Masters Games (AMG) in Canberra has hit an exciting milestone, with 50 sports now officially confirmed for the week-long multisport festival from 18–25 October!
From high-energy team sports like Basketball, Hockey and Netball, to individual pursuits such as Cycling, Swimming, and Archery, and new additions like Trugo, Calisthenics and Padel, the growing sporting schedule reflects the heart of the Masters movement: participation, passion, and playing without limits at every level.
“This milestone is more than just a number. It represents the energy and diversity of our incredible community,” said Adam Drinkwell, AMG General Manager.
“The Games have grown significantly over the years, both in size and spirit. More sports, more participants, and more opportunities to connect. It’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting and inclusive programs we’ve ever delivered,” he added.
Behind the scenes, the AMG team has been working closely with sport partners to build a schedule that embraces both traditional and emerging sports, welcoming athletes across a wide range of skill levels, backgrounds and goals.
“Reaching 50 sports is a real credit to our sporting community. It shows how committed people are to making this event truly special,” said Tegan Buttimore, AMG Sports & Operations Manager.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the support and enthusiasm shown by sporting organisations across the ACT and beyond,” she continued. “This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without their commitment and collaboration, and with so many sports now part of the Games, excitement is really starting to build.”
“There’s a buzz around Canberra, and everyone is keen to be part of it. From newcomers to return participants, there’s a real sense of momentum building,” Tegan expressed.
This year’s Games promises more than just competition; it’s a full celebration of movement, mateship, and making memories. With thousands of participants set to descend on the nation’s capital this October, all signs point to an unforgettable experience on and off the field.
