Go for GOLD at the 2021 Australian Masters Games by entering now!
Entries open today for the largest mass participation multisport event Perth has ever seen – The Australian Masters Games. And with more than 50 sports and a full social program planned, this is a Games you won’t want to miss.
The countdown is on to “Play time in Perth” with more than 8,000 weekend warriors set to head west from Saturday 9 October to Saturday 16 October for a festival of sport with the beautiful city of Perth as the playground.
Making the most of Perth’s tremendous sporting facilities, the Games will feature more than 50 sports across the week including favourites such as dragon boat, softball, basketball and athletics, as well as new additions like racquet sport – padel. And with no qualification criteria aside from meeting the minimum age requirement (which for most sports is 30 years), there really is something for everyone.
The Australian Masters Games is renowned for its social program almost as much as the sports. And in 2021 the social program, which brings together participants from all sports, will be bigger and better than ever before with a unique West Australian twist.
Australian Masters Games General Manager Kirsten Drower said participants will have a lot to look forward to off the back of a challenging 2020. Play time in Perth will extend beyond the sporting arena this October, with three iconic venues set to host our participants for the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as a mid-week celebration.
“Participants will have the opportunity to walk on the hallowed turf of the most beautiful stadium in the world – Optus Stadium, take in an unforgettable Indian Ocean sunset at Coast Port Beach in Fremantle and explore Western Australia’s rich cultural and natural heritage at the new WA Museum Boola Bardip. We’ll also be partnering with local venues to round out the social program and ensure a distinctive West Australian social experience for every day of the Games” said Kirsten
The Western Australian Government, through Tourism Western Australia, is proud to be hosting the Australian Masters Games for the first time since 1993. Extending beyond the sports fields, the Games will encourage participants to explore the vibrant city of Perth, including its many laneway bars and eateries and iconic tourism hotspots.
Planning for the Australian Masters Games will be in line with the advice of the WA Chief Health Officer.
