Opening Ceremony
IMPORTANT – Entry to the Opening Ceremony is only available for registered participants who have an Opening Ceremony Ticket. Entry won’t be granted unless you have your opening ceremony ticket and your AMG Accreditation Pass. Tickets are SOLD OUT.
Join us as we officially launch the 20th Australian Masters Games with an unforgettable Opening Ceremony at the National Museum of Australia. This spectacular evening will set the tone for the week ahead, featuring live music, cultural performances, and a vibrant celebration of sport and community. It’s the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow athletes, volunteers, and supporters while experiencing a warm Canberra welcome.

Official Timings for the Opening Ceremony
6pm – Doors open for participants with tickets and accreditation pass
7pm – Official Opening of the Australian Masters Games
8:15pm – The Fabulous Caprettos on the Main Stage
10pm – Event finishes
What to expect at the Opening Ceremony
- There will be 3 main zones – The Ampitheatre, The Gandel Atrium, & The Garden of Australian Dreams (GOAD)
- Food and beverage outlets will be placed in each of the zones for participants to access.
- The main stage will be located in The Ampitheatre with Lake Burley Griffin as its backdrop. This will be the location for the official opening and The Fabulous Caprettos performance.
- Video screens in the Gandel Atrium and GOAD will broadcast all the entertainment from the main stage.
- Visit our sponsor activations in the GOAD. This includes the merchandise stall, Kailo (meet Aron Baynes), Sukin, Wendy Wu Tours, World Masters Games 2027, & Dementia Australia.
- Participants can move between all 3 zones. Please note should a zone reach capacity, entry to that zone will be restricted.
- Participants can collect their sports paddles on entry to acknowledge their sport throughout the evening.
- First Aid on-site
Shuttle Buses & Parking
Participants can access the FREE courtesy shuttle buses that will run on an express loop to the National Museum from Platform 3 on Alinga St in Civic. Buses will commence from 5:45pm and run continuously based on demand throughout the evening. Buses will collect and drop off participants at both stops. The final bus will depart the National Museum at 10:30pm.
There is limited parking at the National Museum and surrounding area. Should participants drive, they are asked to park legally at all times. The use of taxi/uber is also highly recommended.
