The Advocate newspaper has put the call out for everybody with connections to the region to come home and celebrate Tasmania’s North West by supporting or taking part in the Australian Masters Games. The “Coastal Alumni” program will be promoted nationally, and aims to recruit and embrace the region’s former residents to be part of the week-long sport and social festival in October.
Today marks seven months to go until the Games are officially opened, and Tasmania’s North West is coming together to create a festival like atmosphere across the entire region.
Igor Van Gerwin may be known for Anvers Chocolate in Tasmania’s North West, but during the Australian Masters Games in October he is trading in the chef’s hat for driving gloves when he participates in hillclimb at Lake Barrington.
